The Power of Mailing Lists

I have been a bit skeptical about mailing lists on and off, as it's not something I've done a lot of in the past. But I was convinced to build a list with Python Printable Games' home page, and it's working out quite well.

Prior to this idea, we had around 360 subscribers. We're now approaching 1,000, and sending an email to them results in sales immediately!

MailChimp is the provider I use. I'll write a full review shortly.

Core Commerce: Am I Going to Leave E-Junkie?!

Is Ashley Cotter-Cairns falling out of love with E-Junkie? Kind of. Probably a better way to describe it is "growing out of love". E-J is great for small time stores, and for most SBIers it's probably as close to ideal as it gets.

But Python Printable Games has definitely outgrown E-J in its current format. Its interface is too inflexible to cope with a company that's now approaching 500 printable products. There are too many missing pieces in the jigsaw, like easy upsells. Certainly it's time to consider whether there is a better solution for the money (we're currently spending $90/month on E-J).

Core Commerce is new to me, but my tech team in CA brought it to my attention. I will be taking the 30-day free trial, and seeing whether it's a viable, and more importantly, easy-to-use shopping cart system.
